I make settlements requiring pay for them for the time only that they served their employers.

I apprehend no difficulty, however, in the Freedmen finding employment for next year or in renting lands where they are able to do so, for one race is equally dependent as the other.

The crops are as good as last year considering the bad season and amount of labor employed, throughout this Division.
