they registered, likewise lost their votes. As was anticipated, the two successful candidates in this County, as Delegates to the Convention, received a majority of Colored votes, which would have elected them even had they not received then proportionately few white votes which they did. This in "In F. Robinson" elected, received 167 white and 794 colored votes, total 961: and "W.F.B. Taylor", also elected, received 1121 white, and 824 colored votes - total 941.

There were nine regular candidates in the field, and fourteen persons in all received some votes, more or less, the colored people voting for the regular candidates only.

"Re J Webb" an independent candidate - a good union man, but who is said to have been harsh to his slaves - not elected, received 402 white and 11 colored votes. "James Patterson" - "Conservative" (Rebel) received 357 white and 2 colored votes, total 339. This man being disfranchised on his announcing himself as a candidate, believing it to be my duty I stopped his running; but in obedience to orders received on the night of the 19th, I on the 21st withdrew my objection, when he again at once announced himself. But for the circumstance I believe he would have been elected by a white majority. "G W Chinney" (a Repudiationist) received 325 white and 15 colored votes, total 340. Mondecia Cool (A conservative), received 243 white, and 1 colored vote - total 244. David Blevins
