a loyal, poor man of no capacity received 31 white, and 95 colored votes, total 126. 

"Daniel Flora" a loyal "Conservative" candidate, received 109 white, and 4 colored votes - total 113. 

"Rev. G L Stone" - an unprincipled "Red String" Candidate received 7 white and 1 colored vote - total 8. 

"Fountain Boules" - (not a candidate, principles unknown) received 2 white votes. 

P Saunders (a Republican - not a candidate) received 1 white vote. 

"B H Hutcherson" (unknown - not a candidate) received 1 white vote. 

"W T Scoll - (a loyal, poor man - not a candidate) received 1 white vote. 

"John R Marten (a rebel preacher - not a candidate) received 1 white vote.

Mr Taylor - elected - was nominated by the Republican party, and Union League, in Patrick County. The Union League here supported and elected Mr. Robertson, in liew of a more suitable candidate; he, while not belonging to any party, still advocating proper and liberal measures. A large class of the whites feel quite sore over this result.

The election terminated without the slightest disturbance, and the colored voters behaved in the most exemplary manner. The feeling between the two classes on the day of election appeared to be pleasant, and I have heard no complaints this far of any action on the part of the whites towards the Freedmen; but this I attribute entirely to the force of circumstances.
