In compliance with Circular No 6 dated Hd Qrs Asst Comr Va Richmond Va January 29th 1867 I have the honor to report considerable feeling existing towards the colored people growing out of the late election. Several Freedmen have been discharged and turned out of houses for voting the Union ticket. I believe that the scarcity of labor will rectify this as those so discharged readily find other homes. The Election in this county passed off remarkably quiet not the least disturbance of any kind came to my knowledge

The full term of the schools commenced the first of the month but are not large in consequence of the gathering of crops  They are on the increase. There will be probably a large attendance during the coming months  I have visited the different schools and find the teachers energetic in their duties and the same eagerness among the scholars for knowledge  As I have so often noticed in other localities I find after a personal inspection of the
