colored people do not appear to have changed materially from their usual demeanor and the whites I have noticed that they appear just as respectful as before they exercised the right of sufferage, - in fin - things move along just as if nothing unusual had happened and I cannot see any material change in the demeanor towd each other of either white or colored.
The temperance movement here does not prosper as it should The colored people are not inclined to consider the importance of such a movement. Advocates of the cause, of their own color could accomplish great good, especially if they are the clergy [[strikeout]] of their color [[/strikeout]]. The colored Clergyman here Harrison Blair does not take any interest in the movement.
The schools at the different points in this Dir except at this place will not probably open until after the corn is harvested. The school at Willis Madden's recently under the charge of M.L. Tabb will be discontinued as the people will not interest themselves for its continuance I expect to prevail upon Mr Tabb to go to Washington Rappak [[Rappahannock]] Co. to open a school where I think the peple are willing and amply able to support him.
