there is little or no intemperance amongst the Freedmen in this Country the School at Pittsylvania Court House was closed on the 20th of this month Mr Wicker States that he Cannot Continue this School any longer I would recommend that the Bureau furnish a Teacher for this School I have visited the School at Danville and find a large attendance there of pupils of both Sexes with an average attendance daily of 294 Scholars Many of those Can read and Wright well and are making rapid improvement In their [[strikethrough]] Studys [[/strikethrough]] Studys

The Churches of the Freedpeople are well attended by large Congregations on the Sabbaths
