Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HEADQUARTERS SUB ASST. COM'R, 10TH SUB DIST., STATE OF VIRGINIA.
Alexandria, Va., Dec'r. 2nd 1867.

Bvt. Brig. Gen O. Brown
Richmond, Va

Genl:

In compliance with Cir. No. 6. Hd Qrs Asst. Com'r. Dist. of Virginia, Richmond. Va Jany. 29th 1867. I have the honor to report that the condition of Bureau affairs in Alexandria Co. Va is good: There are no able bodied freedmen who desire to work for whom employment cannot be found, although the dullness of business, and stoppage of work in the rural district, must soon throw many out of employment; There has been quite a number of applications for relief, mostly for clothing; There is every prospect of considerable destitution and suffering among the freedpeople, when the winter sets in, but if they are supplied with clothing, and food from the souphouse they may possibly get through, being furnished with fuel by the Bureau.

I am, General,
Very Respectfully,
Your obedient Servant,
S. P. Lee
Capt. Bvt. Lt. Col. U.S.A. S.A. Com'r. 10" S.D. Va
