23rd 1867, the body was not found until the next morning and no clue to the perpetrator has been found, the man was evidently murdered for his money as the body was rifled.

The Temperance movement remains unchanged, no perceptible improvement in the cause being noted, although there is very little intemperance among the freedpeople, intemperance being the exception generally and not the rule.
