is hereby appointed assistant Police Officer whose salary shall be at the rate of Three Hundred Dollars pr annum.

And be it further ordained, that the Sergeant & his assistant Police Officer, be and he or they are hereby authorized to call into service whenever they may deem it necessary assistants not exceeding ten persons at any one time whose pay shall be at, the rate of two dollars each pr day for the time actually employed. 

On motion, ordered, that the sergeant be allowed an annual salary as Police Officer the sum of Three Hundred Dollars commencing January 1st 1868.

On motion ordered, That the Mayor be a committee to confer with the Faculty of Washington College & the Virginia Military Institute upon the communication received from Major J.W. Sharp; and ask their cooperation in effecting and preserving the Public Peace.
