attending during the month is (606). There is much interest taken in the schools and every effort to acquire a knowledge of reading and writing. In each place where a day school is located there is a flourishing Sabbath School. In other places most of the Sabbath Schools have suspended since the cold weather commenced These schools are having a very beneficial influence in the communities where located.

Temperance Societies have been organized in Christiansburg, Dublin, and Wytheville. Favorable reports are received from Salem and Abingdon in regard to the temperate teachers of the Freedmen -

There have been issued to the destitute  Freedpeople during the month 7 Coats. 8 Jackets. 1 Great Coat. 11 prs pants. 5 prs Drawers and 35 Shirts A large number of cases in want of Clothing have been reported which we have been unable to supply as we have but few articles on hand. Shoes Pants. and womens Clothing are most needed of which we have none -
