Bureau of R.F. & A.L. Hd. Qurs. Asst. Sub Asst. Com'r
3rd Division, 8th Sub District, Virginia
Christiansburg Va. Dec. 31st 1867.

Bv't. Brig. Genl O Brown
Asst. Commissioner

General- I have the honor to make the following report of Bureau Affairs in this Division, comprising the counties of Montgomery, Pulaski and Giles, for the past month.

The Freedmen have conducted themselves in an exemplary and praise worthy manner; and are trying to live in peace with all men. Only two have been imprisoned for offences against the law, and these were led into difficulty, through the dishonesty of white men. They are charged with Petty Larceny, and are confined in the Giles Co. Jail. Throughout the three Counties, the Freed-people remain peaceful and quiet, attending to their various duties, and using all their leisure moments in trying to improve themselves intellectually
