At other places the school interest is about the same as when last reported, and efforts are now being made to carry forward the work if possible, in new localities. I understand that the freed people of Blacksburg will about the first of the year, come in possession of a House for school and church purposes, and are very anxious that a teacher from the North be secured for them.  Very little is being done towards the education of poor white children, and large numbers of them are growing up in ignorance and vice, as far as we have had it in our power, we have distributed books and religious papers among them.  This county greatly needs the adaption of the common School system of education, whereby the masses of the people may become educated, and prepared to occupy a higher sphere in life.  The charges made against the colored people, that they are arming themselves and threaten to destroy the white race, is utterly false, and only gotten up ---
