For purposes to injure the colored man and seems as far as possible the arming of the Whites.

No cases of martrimonial difficulty during the past month, and the apprenticed orphan children have been well cared for.

The temperance interest is increasing. At Christianburg the association numbers one hundred and forty four members.  At Newbern, Pulaski County seventy eight have recently signed the pledge and formed a Division.  Some of them were threatened with expulsion from service for signing the pledge, and every effort made to induce them to break it.
