intention of the land owners to either turn them off at the election upon the ratification of the Constitution, or endeavor to intimidate them, so as to cause them to refrain from voting with the republican party. 

In relation to interference among the Freedmen I can say nothing more favorable then but few, if any of them get drunk, although they drink immense quantities of liquor; everybody nearly, uses liquor in this section of the state, including not only laborers &c, but the ministers and church members, and the Freedmen can't see any sin in using, what everybody else does, therefore it will be impossible to organize a Temperance Division among them. 

In relation to schools, I can report no additional ones, as having been established, although a great many of the colored population, are learning to read themselves, with the assistance of friends - in general
