Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HEADQUARTERS 10th SUB-DISTRICT OF VIRGINIA
Alexandria, Va, Jan 2nd 1868.

Bvt. Brig. Gen. O Brown
Bureau R.F. & A. Lands
Richmond, Va.

Genl:-
In compliance with Cir. No. 6, Hd. Qurs. Asst Com'r. Dist of Va. Jany. 29 1867, I have the honor to report that the condition of Bureau affairs in Alexandria Co. is good. There are no able bodied freedmen, who desire work, for whom unemployment cannot be found, requests coming to this office every day asking to be supplied with servants. There are many women however with children, that cannot get situations owing to their encumbrances, these have to be assisted by the Bureau, and the clothing and fuel distributed to such has without doubt prevented much destitution and suffering.

I am, General,
Very Respectfully,
Your Obedient Servant,
S.P. Lee
Capt. & Bvt. Lt. Col. U.S. Army.
Sub. Asst. Comr. 10th Sub-Dist. Va.
