are continually made at this office that they cannot get their pay or share of the crop from their employers for the year 1867 I am trying to settle all such claims in the best manner possible for the interest of all concerned there is very little crime committed by the colored people at this time but I am reliably informed that many families are suffering for the want of fuel and food I respectfully request that you will call the attention of the asst. Com to this matter and that I may be furnished with Fuel and Provisions so as to relieve the wants of those who may be suffering for them the overseers of the poor are doing all they can for this class of persons but they have not the means to meet all the wants of the poor there seems to be little or no interferance amongst the Colored people the school at this post is well attended please see School Report I have not been able to visit the school this month as I am suffering from Rheumatism and cannot do much the churches of the colored people are well attended by large Congregations

I am most Respectfully
your, obedient Servant.
