Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
OFFICE OF ASST. SUB. ASST. COM'R.
4th DIV., 10th SUB. DIST OF VIRGINIA.
Warrenton, Va. January 31st 1868

Brevet Brig Gen O Brown
Assistant. Commissioner

Sir
In compliance with Circular No. 6. Series 1866 from Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner District of Virginia,

I have the honor to report that in consequence of the very short time that I have been on duty in this Division, a correct idea of the General Condition of Bureau Affairs cannot be formed.

The Sanitary Condition is considered remarkably good.

No Rations have been issued, and the colored people as far as my observation has extended me in a comfortable condition.

There are two schools in the county of Fauquir, and a third one in course of erection, the same are well attended, and an increase of attendance is shown almost daily.

One of the above is supported wholly by the colored people, the other in part.

I am General very respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
Morton Havens
Ast. Sub Asst. Commissioner
