Sobriety and good deportment, desiring to live at peace with all men, if suffered to do so; and endeavoring to secure by their labor an honest livelihood.

In conclusion I would state, that an effort was made the first of the year, to get the School property out of the hands of the colored people at Newbern, Pulaski Co. by the whites, in that vicinity, but being advised of their plans, we took such action, as thwarted them in their calculations - and secured the property to the Freed-people. A number of Friends in Philadelphia Pa. assisted to the amount of one hundred and thirty-eight dollars, towards relieving them, from their pecuniary embarrassment.

Very Respectfully
Your Ob't Servant
