clothing.  The demand is still very great, and I get discouraged at times; I have issued a great deal of clothing, and it seems to me, that the demand is as great as ever, I turn them away at the rate of from fifty to one hundred daily.

The only way to benefit this class of people is to send them into the country, even with homes secured for them, the women in some instances refuse to go with their husbands, who appeal to me for help, but I am unable to make them go.  I can only refuse to assist them, in which case they undoubtedly suffer for their obstinacy.

The Industrial School has born in operation during the month, giving employment to about two hundred women, and affording them relief.
