amongst the Freedmen. No clothing has been called for from this office by any one and no Freedman or woman has had to go to the poor house for want of finding employment. Old debts which the Freedmen cannot collect from former employers and the occasional neglect of white men to pay the Freedmen form the staple of business for this office As a whole the Division is certainly in very fair order and condition and cases of complaint are much less frequent than might be expected. As a whole I am inclined to think that the better class of whites have resolved to accept the situation in good faith and treat the Freedmen fairly.
