No special changes have taken place in the schools of the counties under my charge- full reports will be found on the printed forms. 

Have been unable to make extended tours of inspection over the several Counties of the 4th Division, owing to the almost impassable condition of the roads, and the frequent storms which prevailed- and other uncontrolling circumstances. In Floyd County we have found them entirely destitute of Schools, and I presume this is the case throughout Craig and most of Roanoke Counties. From some portions of the field, I have received positive information to this effect. We have recently had donated to us, packages of School Books, with Bible, Testaments, Sunday School Papers &c. which are being distributed in destitute places- also pecuniary assistance to help forward in the work.

The Temperance Association still continue to prosper. At Newbern, Pulaski Co. thirty seven recently signed the pledge, and were added to the Grand Army of Tetotallers.
