I have the honor to report that the affairs of the Bureau are in about the same position as they were at my last report, the change, if any, being for the worse: ie: the feeling of the white people towards the Colored race —

The schools started last month have improved vastly, having scholars of all ages, and all eager to learn. Their progress is astonishing. the teachers report very favorably -

I can not give any favorable account of the temperance societies in this Sub Dist, it remains in the same state as left by me when organized, though I am of the opinion that when the race has received education, that they will perceive the advantage
