is done to the Freedmen the School for Freedmen at [[Danville?]] has been well attended during this month I made an Inspection of the School on the 30th Inst. And I found a large attendance of Scholars This realy surprising the progress that those children are making many of them Can Read and write well they Study History Geography And ArithmeticK and numbers of those children are [[?]]ict proficient in those branches

The Churches of the Colored people are well attended on the Sabbath Days by large and respectable Congregations And at Church those people are well behaved and attentive During the Services. there is very little intemperance prevailing among the Freedmen and very little Crime Committed by them Considering the destitution that prevails
I most Respectfully recommend that Rations and Clothing be Sent to the Asst Sub Asst Com So that the same may be Issued to the destitute and deserving Colored And Poor Whites of this Town who Cannot obtain employment And there are Many Cases of this kind who apply to me dailey.

I am most Respectfully
your obedient servant
