county Court - during the February term - in which colored persons were parties - & one (1) - (Assault) in which the parties were white - but a colored man was an important witness.

There were also the following causes, in which colored people were parties - continued - viz - four (4) petit larcenies - three (3) Misdemeanors - One (1) Lewdly cohabiting &c - One (1) Assault - one (1) Shooting out - & two(2) cases of Whites who committed assaults upon colored people were also continued.

No cases of Freedpeople having been discharged on acct. of votes cast at the last election  or for political sentiments have occurred during the past month.

As to Schools - there is no prospect - since the once recommended in my letter of January 24 - 1868 - wh. has never been noticed.[[note]] X [[/note]]

A report has reached me that a colored woman is teaching colored children to read - on Mr. Chas. B. Reynolds place - she charges one dollar per month per capita - & has about Sixteen regular Scholars - the school was commenced on last christmas - She teaches in an old cabin on the place - & my informant
