In compliance with Circular No 6. from Head Quarters Asst. Comr. District of Virginia January 29~1866,
I have the honor to submit the following report on the condition of Bureau affairs in Alexandria County, Virginia for the month of March 1868.

The opening of spring relieves the Bureau of a great burden, in enabling a great portion of the destitute and suffering whom the Bureau had been supporting during the past winter, to take care of themselves, the list of destitute is now confined to old and infirm people, and
women with families of children that are prevented by sickness and chronic diseases from procuring steady work, all the able bodied, both male and female, are able to secure permanent situations at fair remunerating wages. The Schools are very well attended, and everything is being done to afford the rising generation every opportunity to secure the foundation of a good
