for Laborers-

The colored people of Accomac County have been and some of them still are refusing to pay their taxes when called upon by the Sheriff, in several instances the Sheriff has been obliged to levy upon their property and sell it.

The Colored people have been instructed that law compells the Sheriff to collect the tax and that they must pay it

There are five day Schools for the Colored people in the division and one night school, their schools are well attended and the pupils seem to take an interest in their Studys-

The white Citizens look upon free Schools unfavorably and I think that it will be a long time before the Strong prejudice they now have will be eradicated.

As to temperance I can only report that the Colored people will not form temperance societys, although they have been advised to do so.
