have lately received anonymous letters threatening them with violence should they act with the Republican Party. This is done to intimidated them.

The overseers of the Poor state that they have no county funds in hand for the maintenance of the indigent who need [[strikethrough]] assistenance [[/strikethrough]] assistance from them and that the citizens of the county now refuse to accept the orders on the County which they have heretofore issued for rations for the poor. If this cannot be remedied there will be suffering among this class of persons.
