I have the honor to make the following report for the month of April in Compliance with instructions contained in Circular No 6 Series 1866

The feeling between the Whites and Freedmen is extremely bitter  the preasant Political Condition of the Country appears to be the Cause of this feeling  Many Complaints are made by Freedmen that they Cannot obtain their wages or Shares of the Crops for last years work  Many Cases of this kind are adjusted by the A.S.A.C and others refered to the Civil Courts Considerable destitution appears to prevail among the Colored People of this County for the want of Food and Clothing they can most all procure employment but their employers are destitute of the means to make an advance to the Freedmen in order to purchase the necessary articles of [[strikethrough]] Flo [[/strikethrough]] food and clothing required

The school for Colored children at Danville has been well attended during this month Considering the inclemency
