I am however pained to report a continued bitter sectanair [[sectarian?]] feeling in the colored churches which threaten the welfare of the schools — As one of the principal causes has been removed from the state, it is to be hoped the feeling will soon cease. A new school has been opened at Newtown in this County which is amply supported by the colored people — Being organized so recently its numbers are small, but having once obtained a foothold with another fall good results may be expected.

Although there are no temperance Societies, there is but very little drunkenness, and I have not known of an arrest for that cause for months past. Efforts are now making to organize the schools into temperance Societies, with a good prospect of success.

As a class the colored people are law-abiding, peacable, and industrious. They have but few cases for litigation, and those
