I am unable to speak as to the success of the Temperance movement among the freedpeople as to figures but the friends of the same are strenuously exerting themselves to increase its numbers and usefulness. It is safe to assert that intemperance is not more prevalent among the freedpeople than among the whites in proportion to their numbers.
