General

In compliance with instructions contained in Circular No. 6 series of 1866 Asst. Commr of Va. I have the honor to report that the feeling existing between the Whites and Freedmen of my Division is apparently very good. there are five (5) schools in operation in this Division, three in Nelson and two in Amherst County all in a very flourishing condition, the zeal of both scholars and parents seeming to increase with the knowledge acquired. I have seen no interference among the freedmen and am of the opinion that the existence of this evil among them is very rare.
I am, General, Very Respectfully
