I have at all times when the opportunity has occurred, told them to disregard all such threat as idle, and only evade for the purpose of influencing their votes, and explained to them the mutual dependence of the of the landholder and the laborer. I am satisfied that but few, if any, will be influence by such threats. 

None of the Freedmen, so far as I can ascertain, are actually suffering for food.  The County authorities generally doing what they can, to relieve the paupers of the county.

No Temperance societies are as yet in operation here among either either Whites or Blacks. 

Intemperance however prevails to as little extent among the Blacks as in any other place that I have visited.
