all but those who fought in the late rebellion to hold office; opposed to the "dogma" (as they term it) that the colored should have the right to vote or hold office; opposed to Northern people throughout, they throw any and every obstacle in their way, and in fact they are in earnest to erect a class of study to hereafter be instilled in the minds of their youth in every one of their educational institutions that will be sure to inculcate a hatred toward the old Flag and the "Governing Laws", of the country. Without the habits of industry in themselves they hate exceedingly to see in others who may chance to be their neighbors. No negro can satisfy them, unless he be a conservative as they call their party and if he is that he may possibly get along better- calling every white man master and kissing the hand that is always ready to knock him down upon the least assertion of his rights as a Freeman Bribery, a shameful political warfare, is being wasted to by those opposed to the congressional rule, and this course is calculated to effect a permanent bitterness of feeling in the hearts of all true loyal men, towards all such as struggling that way to arouse the people of this State, to an activity that will result in an opposition if not a defeat of the adoption of the offered Constitution, and the election to office of liberal men at the impending election.
