Bureau R.F. and A. Lands Office A.S.A. Comr Madison Court House Va June 30th 1868. Gen O. Brown Asst Comr Richmond Va. Gen, In compliance with Cir. No. 6. dated Hd. Qrs. Asst Com Richmond Va. on Jan 24th 1866. I have the honor to make the following report (Tho Hd Qrs S.A. Com 4th Sub District Va). There is nothing of importance to report this month further than the "Political" excitement existing between the Conservative whites and the Freedmen or in other words between the Rebels and the Freedmen. They threaten to turn the Freedman off their plantations and give them no employment should they vote contrary to the views of the Democratic Party. There are complaints lodged in this Office at the present time where the Freedmen have the threat hanging over their heads- that if they vote the Radical ticket their houses will be burned &c. They appear to be very much intimidated in consequence of the severe threats made against them by their employers and the incendiary "Shriekers" of the opposite party who
