Courts in Patrick and Henry having passed off without any fighting -In Franklin an attempt was made by the white friends of the Constitution to advocate its adoption in speeches. Mr. Claiborne, one of the most respectable men in the County and the Republican nominee for Legislature was torn from the platform by his own Brother in law; the Republicans seeing there was so much excitement, concluded not to continue the meeting- Open threats were made that no man should advocate the Constitution in Franklin County.

The crops were never as good in Henry, Pat'k and Franklin as they are this year- and I am of the sincere belief- that if the col'd people can be protected one more year that in this section of the State, they will be on a prosperous foundation.
