difficulties between freedmen, hunting up lost children & relations &c Three colored men have each bought them lots here in town during the month. They are all mechanics - and are doing well.

There have been also quite a number from this villiage who have bought land a few miles from town, averaging from one to fifteen acres each and are now putting up their houses thereon. This speaks well for the condition of these people They seems to be very anxious to get little homes of their own. This I have always encouraged them in doing and when necessary have examined the titles to the land and have seen that everything was all right about their purchase and that they were not imposed upon by persons having land for sale -

The Schools will open on the 1st prox. A very large and interesting school is expected this session at this place, both night and day -
