I have the honor to report in compliance with Cir. No. 6. Series 1866 the condition of Bureau Affairs as follows

Various parts of the county have been visited complaints heard, difficulties settled and the wants and interests of the freedmen looked after generally. Careful inquiries have been made as to where Schools were needed. What are the accommodations. And what can be done by any party for their support. And the feeling of the Whites towards them. Inquiries have also been made into all matters affecting the rights of the freedmen showing whether the freedmen have proper protection under the law as now administered or any surety of justice in the Civil Courts.

The following complaints have been heard and such action advised as seemed proper in the case.

I...Griffin [[Brugg? Bragg?]] (Cold) vs. Joshua McKenney (white)

For driving him from his premises. laber and crops in June but without pay. While he was at work under a verbal contract to have all he could raise on a certain piece of land except one fourth which went for rent of the land. in consideration of his working for him the said McKinney the balance of the time...Advised to commence an action for the recovery of pay for his labor.
