II. James Crowley Col. VS. L. Crymes (white)
For driving from his plantation and labor and crops after working four months under a written contract for half of what is raised after deducting one fourth for rent of land. After reciting what is required of each party the contract has this clause "if from any cause the said Crowlies leave the plantation before the time above mentioned they agree to forfeit their crop." It was under this clause they were driven off. The parties were requested to appear before the ASAC. The case is still under consideration.

III. Scott Wilson (Col) VS Spot Thompson (white)
For driving him from premises, labor and crops, and threatening to beat, shoot and kill him if he returned. He was working under a contract with the said Thompson and brother on the one part and two of said Thompsons sons and six freedmen on the other part. Six eighths of the crops to be divided equally between the two parties. The contract was witnessed by a justice of the peace and required the freedmen to obey all instructions of the said Thompson and not leave the plantation without his consent. Scott Wilson attended court on the 14th inst without Thompsons consent for which he was driven off the plantation and his life threatened if he returned. The magistrate J. S. Tisdale Esq. was requested to hear the complaint and if the facts as stated were proved to require Thompson to give surety to keep the peace as required by law. And the Complt Scott Wilson be protected in his rights under the contract. Thompson admitted that he drove him off and threatened him
