at fair wages, as a general rule they are industrious and in some instances have made very good crops on land rented from the land holders, all who are able and willing to work can get employment at fair wages.
The state of feeling existing between the Whites and Freedmen is not very good a great deal of distrust is shown on both sides and neither seem to have much confidence in one another - " - There is an aversion on the part of the Freedmen to the formation of any kind of Temperance organization, still they are far from being given to drunkeness; their conduct in this prospect is very good and worthy of imitation by others who should know better
