I have the honor to submit the following Report on Bureau Affairs & Temperance for the month of September 1868.

Nothing worthy of note has transpired in this Division during the month now closing not treated of in previous Reports.

Several cases have occurred similar to those mentioned in former Reports, where land-owners have attempted to drive off from their crops those freedmen who were at work on shares; but a firm uncompromising course with such men has thus far baffled their designs.  The freedmen continue to labor industriously, and with a fair prospect for good crops of corn and tobacco.

There are no cases of utter destitution among them, so far as I can learn, nor do they call upon the local authorities for aid, but provide
