I have the honor to submit the following report of Bureau affairs in general for the current month in my Div. of the. 8th. Sub. Dist. of. Va. comprising the counties of Washington, Russell, Buchanan, Scott, Lee, &, Wise.

There is nothing new to report in the condition of the Freedmen either of a personal character or in their relations to their employers   Labor so far as the making of crops is concerned has been more remunerative this season than last & I feel confident that there will be less complaint of destitution than formerly   Those who have been moderately industrious have secured a competence

The public mind is less excited upon political matters & there appears to be a general
