Already the farmers, in many instances, are negotiating with the Freedmen for their labor for another year notwithstanding previous threatening declarations that they would not give them employment for political reasons. So long as their labor can be made profitable there will be no difficulty whatever in the freedmen obtaining ready employment regardless of other considerations. There is however, a deep and abiding prejudice between the races.
