Sir:-

In compliance with Circular No. 6 Series of 1866 Hd Qrs. Asst. Comr. State of Va. I have the honor to report that in my Division Bureau Affairs remain about, "In status quo", with nothing prospective to indicate a consequential change for the worse for some time to come. The long continued spell of fine weather has given the people an opportunity which they have improved to secure their crops in the best possible manner, so that want during the coming winter is not to be thought of.

Political matters are very quiet indeed at present. scarcely hear them mentioned by either race. About a week ago there was quite an excitement among the colored people who thought there was to be an election here on the 3rd of November, but I believe their minds are now wholly disabused of the ida.
