of whites that will to a certain extent go with that party, and become the colored mans friend and the feeling of bitterness that now exists will gradually die out.

The freedman are working well and the schools for their benefit are progressing favorably. Yet a larger number of the scholars have been at work during the month sowing the crops but will attend school the coming month.

There is very little drunkenness among the freedmen.
