fair wages, the crops this season which are now being gathered; are more abundant than they have been for two years previous so that the prospects for this winter are encouraging

The state of feeling existing between Whites and Freedmen is not very good, a great deal of distrust is shown by both parties which seems to arise principally from differences in party politics

The Freedmen are not favorable to the formation of any temperance organizations, still, their conduct in regard to sobriety is good, very few  are habitual drunkards and their example in this respect might be followed by other classes with great advantage
