I have the honor to submit the following as my report for the current month of Bureau affairs in general in the 2" Dis. of the 8" Sub. Dist. of Virginia comprising the counties of Washington. Buchanan. Russell. Scott. Lee + Wise. 
The condition of the Freedmen + their relations to the white population of this division remain "in status quo"
Upon the subject of schools I have to report that the school at Abingdon opened it session on the 25" of last month having been delayed in opening by the failures of the teacher sent us from the north to arrive as early as originally expected. It is now in full operation with an aveage daily attendance of fifty four (54) schollars. Whole number enrolled seventy three (73) with an encouraging prospect of considerable increase.
