I would respectfully call your attention to the case of Sandy Carter (col'd) vs Emanuel Gerst, in reference to some horses given to Sandy by our troops and now in possession of Mr. Gerst.

I would particularly call your attention to the case of Polly Jennings (col'd) sentenced by the Circuit Court at its last session to be hung on the 18th day of December 1868. You will recollect that I presented the case to you personally while in Richmond, as also to Gov. Wells; who desired some additional papers which I have forwarded with the original petition. In view of the shortness of the time and the near approach of the day of execution, I would bespeak for the case your earliest and most favorable consideration.

Very respectfully
Your obt. servant
W.H.H Stowell
