employed and seem to do very well considering their circumstances; The state of feeling existing between Whites and Freedmen is not very good both parties lack confidence in each other more particularly in regard to Politics

The Freedmen in this Division are averse to the formation of any Temperance organization and nearly all of them indulge to some extent in Strong Drink, still they are not given to excessive dissipation in this aspect I have at every opportunity urged them to self deny in this particular in order to support schools with the money thus wasted but as yet with very little effect
