States that a few days since Lt H. S. Merrell agent Freedmen's Bureau Dist Henrico Va. applied to Bvt Maj Gen'l Turner Comd'g Dist of Henrico. for possession of the buildings at "Bacon Quarter Branch" erected by the Confederate Authorities. on private land and used by them as stables & workshops, and until recently occupied for the same purpose by the Q.M. Dept. U.S.A.
Permission was granted by Gen'l Turner, and the buildings instead of being used by the Bureau, are advertised to be sold tomorrow. the 28th inst at public sale by Lt Merrell. Represents that the lumber in the buildings is required at Richmond in building winter quarters for the troops, and requests that a telegraphic order be sent to Lt Merrell. thro' Col Brown asst comr. to prevent the sale, and also that the property shall be left for disposition of by Quartermaster Department.

Relates the case of Nat Lucas a pious and industrious freedman late of Port Royal Va. who is desirious of having his wife, with, him. Mayant Lucas living with her late owner Edward Jeffries "Jeffries Store" Nottoway Co Va. asks that transportation be provided her to Washington, where she and her husband will be of no further expense to the Bureau.
