Brown asst Comr with the information that Mrs James goes to Washington for a large lot of Blankets for Destitute Freedmen in this City - she has devoted a large amount of her time for the post four months in assisting me to determine who should receive rations, by visiting the houses of the Freedmen in person and reporting the result of her investigations to this office. her services have been gratuitous and of great benefit to the Government, and I have no doubt but that she will succeed in her present undertaking and obtain the clothing.
